Cardio Exercise to Lose Weight

Question: Hi, I have really enjoyed your videos on YouTube. I am trying to lose weight, between 10-15 pounds and wanted to know how much cardio would be good to start off with? Your ab and leg workouts are great and I can't wait to add them to my routine. What are your views on workout tapes?

YouTips4U: Hi, I think they're great. I actually did a lot of them when my kids were very small because I couldn't get out of the house so easily to work out. I think anything you can do to keep moving and stay active is great and tapes help you do it with someone guiding you through it.

If you are trying to lose weight, I think you should start off with 4-5 days per week where you do planned exercise. It doesn't have to be really long; try to get in 30 minutes. As you become fitter, you will want to challenge yourself more and you'll probably want to add more time. Eventually you can work your way up to an hour.

Make sure you are sweat and ask yourself and I'm really working as hard as I can. As long as nothing hurts - keep going. Remember to rest a day in between workouts; you want your body to recover properly. On your off days, you can still stay active by taking a walk or any other low impact exercise you like to do.

Keep up the good work!
