Air Drying Your Hair With Style

Are you trying to grow your hair long? Perhaps you just want your current length hair to look healthy and not dry, brittle and full of split ends. For healthier, shinier hair, it's important to limit the use of heat styling tools. Things like flat irons, straighteners, blow dryers and curling irons, can zap your hair of it's natural moisture and it's ability to retain moisture. This can lead to dry damaged hair that simply breaks off and can make growing and maintaining long hair quite a challenge, but you don't have to give up style because you want to air dry your hair. In my latest YouTube video, I show you how to embrace air drying your hair by creating an easy curly hair look using only your finger. That's right, all you need to make these easy pin curls is your own finger and some bobby pins. You will be pleasantly surprised at how beautiful you will look with curly hair and how healthy your hair will feel not having been attacked yet again by heat. You can also use the same technique to give volume and bounce to your hair if you have thin or straight hair. I have quite a few no-heat hairstyle videos for you on YouTube to make air drying your hair fun and pretty. I hope you'll watch them all. You can watch my latest curly hairstyle tutorial now to learn how to do easy curly hair with finger curls. xo Linda

Should Women Wear Long Hair After A Certain Age?

Did you ever close your eyes and visualize what a middle age woman looks like? I'll bet she has short hair? Why is that? That is because of a societal norm that has been passed down for generations that made women feel as though they had to conform to cutting their hair short once they reached a certain age. In my latest video I address whether it's still appropriate for a woman to wear long hair past a certain age. When I was younger that age was 30. Apparently when you turned 30, you were supposed to cut your hair short because that's what our mothers and grandmothers told us. That age may have increased over the years as women are taking better care of themselves, but nevertheless, the conformity still exists. Did you ever wonder where this idea came from? Well, I did a little research into this social and cultural enigma and it seems that the act of a woman cutting her hair short when she reaches a certain age is congruous to making a statement about her youth and independence. She is saying that she is a grown up now and has no time to focus on things like hair and that she has no interest in attracting a man or looking sexy. Hair is seen as a symbol of attraction and adoration so by cutting it she is saying I don't need to be looked at. I think hair does play a huge part in how we feel about ourselves and I addressed this subject in my latest YouTube video. Many women feel very passionate about this subject, as do I, and they have shared their thoughts and comments below my video. Please watch my video and share your thoughts too.

Is Your Ionic Hair Dryer Causing Your Hair to Be Flat, Dry, and Limp

I was recently in the market for a second blow dryer and doing a bit of research on what to buy. I noticed that nearly every hair dryer or heat styling tool on the market today boasted using negative ions technology. Their claim is that ionic infusion technology will shorten drying time, add shine, and eliminate frizz and static. As someone who is always interested in the science behind such claims, I wanted to know if this really worked or is it just marketing, and are negative ions good for my hair. I have long hair and had been experiencing some issues with dryness and lack of volume, so I did my own research into this ionic technology and then I did a little experiment comparing an ionic hair dryer with a non-ionic hair dryer. To find out what I learned and the results of my comparison, watch my YouTube video: Is Your Hair Dry, Flat, Thin, Or Limp? It Could Be Your Ionic Hair Dryer!
I think you will find it very helpful!

How to Avoid Heat Damaged Hair

Repetitive heat styling can cause hair to become porous and brittle and can lead to split ends and breakage. You can help your hair retain it's important natural moisture and strength by reducing the amount of heat styling you do to your hair. This is especially important if you are trying to grow or maintain long hair.  If you want healthy resilient hair, it's important to be aware of not drying it out and work to protect those important moisture bonds found in the shaft of the hair.  My video above offers you a natural, no-heat alternative to straightening your hair so you can limit the amount of heat styling you do and protect your hair. Try to give your hair a break from using a flat iron or blow dryer as often as you can and allow it to air dry naturally to help it retain it's moisture. We all have days we can do this where it's not so important for us to have perfectly styled hair. I do it frequently. I find it especially important in the winter when the air is dry and less humid and my home is dry from the heat.  If you would like to learn to Straighten Your Hair Without Using Any Heat, then please watch my excellent video above from my YouTube Channel.  I show you step by step an easy method on how you can straighten your hair while it air dries, without using any heat. I have many other no-heat styling videos on YouTube so please check them out after you watch this one. I think you will find them very helpful and realize there is a lot you can do without using heat all the time!

How to Break Up with Your Hairdresser

I call it a break-up because it can feel that way. You feel loyal to your hairdresser, almost as though they are a friend of yours, and they are, to a point. This is still a business relationship and you are a paying customer. So that means you call the shots! If you've left your hairdresser on more than one occasion feeling as though you were not treated as personally as you used to be or would like to be, or you have had bad color or cuts for the last few visits, it's time for you to consider making a change. Everyone has a bad day and that includes hairdressers. Unfortunately, their bad day can be carried home on your head. When poor results become a routine and you no longer look forward to going, but feel like you're settling, you should find someone new. Also, if your desire is to try something fresh and bold and you don't think your hairdresser is up to the job, that's another telltale indication that you may need to move on. Another reason for deciding to move on is if you are forced to wait a long time between appointments or if they keep you waiting a long time once you arrive. A poorly run salon is like any other business that's poorly run, it doesn't deserve your patronage. It's a competitive world out there and businesses are competing for you. If they are not putting their best foot forward, find someone who will. I once went to a salon where the receptionist who checked you in and who you saw when you were finished was very unfriendly. Not a smile on her face, nothing. This wasn't just A BAD DAY. The receptionist is the first person you meet when you walk in and it gives you a feel for the business and the way it's run. I go to a salon to be lifted up, not brought down, needless to say I eventually left. If a business wants to make a good impression, they will care about who answers their phone and who greets and serves their customers. So how do you make the break: If you have been going to a particular hairdresser regularly for years and you've finally strayed and found someone new, you may want to send a quick note explaining why you're taking a break. Perhaps say you received a gift certificate for another salon so you are going to give it a try. That way if you want to go back, there won't be any hurt feelings. Many times you can find a new style or cut elsewhere and just have your tried and true stylist duplicate the look for you. If you haven't gone for many years to your hairdresser, or you've been irregular at best, then it's easy to just disappear and move on. Your hair is a very personal part of your body and very tied into who you are. A good stylist recognizes and respects this and accommodates you. Remember, you know your hair best so good communication is key to good results from your salon. See you on YouTube, -YouTips4U

Summer's Over - Time for a Little Trim

Now that summer is over, it's time to think about removing those dead dry and split ends that occur from swimming, fun in the sun, surf, and chlorine pool water. Several months of summer fun can really wreck havoc on your locks. You don't want to wait too long for a trim because if you have dry split ends, they can travel up the hair shaft and break further up your hair. By removing those dry split ends down by the ends of your hair, you spare the loss of length. This is important for anyone trying to grow their hair long. After your trim, pay careful attention to the health of your hair to keep your hair from getting dry and split with conditioning treatments and gentle styling; you now have a nice fresh start to continue growing your hair long. So if you have been putting off a little pampering for yourself, now is a great time to think about either visiting your salon for a trim, or you can give yourself a haircut at home and save that hard-earned cash. Please see my video on how you can cut your own here. Here is the link to my YouTube video: How to Cut Your Own Hair

I also have a YouTube video on how to trim your own bangs. Here is the link to that video: How to Cut, Trim, & Layer Your Own Bangs

Quick Styles for Back to School Hair Styling

hi,, do you have some tips/videos on how to style your hair when going to school... because i have trouble on how to style my long hair when I'm going to school.
thanks in advance...

YouTips4U: Hi, I know time can be hard to come by when you are trying to get to school. The best thing to do is to wash and condition and style your hair the night before so you don't have so much to do with it in the morning before school. In the morning, brush it out gently and if you have unwanted waves, etc. dampen it a bit and restyle it using your blow dryer or flat iron, whichever you use. This will save time and your hair will come out just as nice. You may have to wet sections of your hair, but at least you don't have all the shampooing, etc. to do.

Another great thing you can do with really long hair is to wear it wavy. After you wash your hair the night before, or if you are not washing it that night simply dampen it; then make two braids, one on each side. Sleep with your hair braided and it will dry over night. When you let the braids out in the morning, you will have beautiful wavy hair! Just brush out and go.

Hope that helps :o)
