How To Look Beautiful With No Makeup

I think one of the most positive things that has come out of my experience with having to be in lockdown and working from home is that I have come to embrace not wearing makeup. At first I think many of us loved not having to get ready every morning and put makeup on and do our hair etc. It was a welcomed respite from the normal routine and a chance to give our skin a bit of a rest. However, as the weeks wained on and we remained socially isolated and still working from home, many of my friends started telling me they felt like they were in a rut and have let themselves go. They were sick of looking at themselves looking like they just rolled out of bed and had no drive to change that. I totally understood how they felt and we laughed about it on FaceTime, but then something interesting happened, after a while we kinda got used to seeing ourselves that way and we no longer felt that just because we had no makeup on, we were in a rut or in some kind of hiding. It was kind of a flash back to middle school before you ever wore makeup. We simply got used to seeing ourselves without makeup, and instead of feeling like we were in a rut, we started feeling free! We weren't afraid to be seen without our "face on"as they say. This transformation was part of our evolution of self confidence. In fact, studies have shown that the more insecure a woman is, the more makeup she puts on, but can the actual act of wearing makeup cause you to develop an insecurity that you never had? The answer is yes. There are thousands upon thousands of makeup videos on YouTube showing you products that you think you need in order to look beautiful. They convince you that you need to look a certain way or buy a certain product to look and feel beautiful and confident, but the truth is, you are already beautiful and you always were. You were just covering it up for so long that you forgot what your natural beauty looked like!

Well, over these past months, I have had the pleasure of regaining my positive relationship with my natural beauty; the beauty I was born with. Now when I want to enhance my natural beauty, I do it very selectively, just like a middle-school-aged girl putting on lip gloss for the first time, or trying a little blush on her cheeks. I'm selective, because I don't want to hide my newly born-again natural beauty that I have just become friends with again after all these years. This amazing realization led me to do this video, How To Look Beautiful With No Makeup, to help inspire you to discover your natural beauty again and to show you that you can feel beautiful, sexy, and confident with a no makeup look. There are a few essentials that you should incorporate everyday to keep your skin healthy and supple and help prevent aging which I discuss in the video, but the rest is just personal preference.  I also share with you some great anti-aging tips and tricks that I think you will find helpful to promote beautiful smooth skin, but the important thing to always remember is that beauty comes from inside, self confidence comes from inside and this experience with being in lockdown may just have birthed a whole new beauty trend. A trend where women look within and allow their beauty to radiate out rather than be painted on.  True beauty is in the way you treat others and the world. It is in the kindness and sincerity that you share with others and in the compassion you have for yourself. So please watch my video, How To Look Beautiful With No Makeup and then challenge yourself to develop a better relationship with your looks, to develop your self confidence without wearing makeup. Try to practice acting the same way without makeup that you would when you are wearing full makeup. Before you know it, you will feel your inner butterfly emerging from her cocoon. It's a wonderful exercise in personal growth. Too many women look in the mirror and don't like what they see. How did they get there? Children don't know anything about looks, they are just themselves. It's society that starts to dictate and judge what is and isn't beautiful. Don't fall into that trap. All things created under God are beautiful and you are one of them. You are as beautiful as a spring flow or a soaring eagle. You just need to see it.

There's also one additional bonus to not wearing makeup, or minimal makeup, and that is the money you will save! I have not bought one single makeup product this year and I don't feel any need or want to. When I watch YouTube videos now of women piling on makeup, I think they look completely overdone. I think to myself how much nicer they would look with a much lighter hand and soft natural glow. I hope you enjoy my video and I hope it inspires you to embrace your God-given natural beauty to.  xoLinda

Best Beauty Products of 2018

Every year at this time, I share my Best Beauty Products of the Year video on YouTube. It features my top beauty product picks for the year. Each year I have a different mix of goodies to share with you and this year is no different, although I do have less products to share this year than prior years. Unfortunately, quite a few of the products I tried this year, I would not recommend, like the liquid glitter eye shadow that made my eyelids red and puffy. Or several of the waterproof eyeliners that made me feel like I had tape on my eyelids, or even the two eyeshadow palettes I tried based on recommendations from beauty gurus that I found to have no spreadability and not enough pigment. Nevertheless, I have some winners for you! Products I tried and loved and will be continuing to use into the new year and beyond. Please watch my video below and share it to help others discover new and wonderful products. If you missed any of my prior years' best beauty products videos, please go to my channel (link is over to the right of my blog) and watch those videos too. I share so many great products that I don't want you to miss out on!

Best Way to Clean Your False Eyelashes to Re-Use Again

Wearing false eyelashes gives your eyes instant glam so I highly recommend them for special occasions or when you want to add a more dramatic effect to your makeup look.  It can get expensive though if you don't get multiple uses from a pair of lashes. Our goal is to try to wear that favorite pair as many times as you can before they break down and you have to throw them away. The best way to clean them is to remove the glue after each wear because letting it build up makes it harder eventually to get the glue off.  Leaving the old glue on them also makes it harder for them to bend and adhere to your eyelids and they can feel less comfortable because they get heavier as the glue builds. The best way to clean them is with soap and water. It's super easy and allows the glue to come off very quickly and easily. Check out my video to learn how:

Going From Day to Night with Makeup

One of my YouTube viewers wrote me recently asking whether it's ok to reapply more makeup after work before she goes out for the evening, without washing her face first.  She said the only thing available to wash her face is the hand soap in the ladies room and should she use it.

Well, if all you have is the hand soap, then I wouldn't recommend using that. Some soaps contain detergents that can strip skin of important moisture causing dryness, irritation, and even rashes. Best to  just reapply some more makeup.  If you want to remove excess oil, simply pat the shiny areas with some toilet paper or a tissue, then apply more makeup. You can even use a little powder to help absorb excess oil.
A good solution would be to keep some makeup remover toilettes in your desk drawer so you can freshen up easily and you're ready for happy hour!

Tip for Itchy Eyes and Lids Caused by Makeup Residue

Next time you notice that your soap and water or your makeup remover didn't clean off your makeup entirely, here's a tip for you. Apply a small amount of baby shampoo to a cotton ball and cleanse your eyelids. Baby shampoo will not sting your eyes so you can lather up right in between lashes if you need to to remove makeup residue left behind from mascara, false eyelashes, eyeliners and eyeshadows. The residue and other allergic debris that can gather there can cause irritation, redness and itching. This is also great for people who have bacterial eye infections. When my children were small, I contracted conjunctivitis from them. I used baby shampoo to cleanse my lids each morning. Then splash with warm water until all soap is washed away. It is very important to remove your makeup each night before bed to prevent skin and eye irritation. So please do not go to bed until your skin in clean. This is also the best time to apply facial moisturizers. While we sleep our bodies do a lot of repairing including smoothing wrinkles and healing dry skin. So don't miss out on your nightly rejuvenation by blocking your pores with dirt, oil, and makeup. See you on YouTube, YouTips4U

How to Remove Glitter Nail Polish

Hi Everybody, Recently I uploaded a video on YouTube on how to have beautiful blue glitter nails How-to Beautiful Blue Glitter Nails Tutorial. Many of you have asked about how to best get glitter nail polish off because it can be difficult to do. Glitter nail polish does have significant lasting power as compared to regular non-glitter nail polishes which is great while you're wearing it, but when it's time to take it off, if can be more time consuming and difficult than we like.

One of the easiest ways to remove the stubborn glitter polish is to soak a cotton ball in nail polish remover, apply it to your nail, and cover your finger with aluminum foil to hold the cotton ball to your fingernail. You can do all ten fingers at a time if you like. After about 2-4 minutes, pull off the foils along with the cotton ball as you squeeze it against your nail removing the glitter polish with it. Your nails should be quite clean. Any remaining glitter polish can be removed by wiping it with a fresh cotton ball soaked with nail polish remover or just gently scraping at it with your nail or a cuticle stick depending on how much you have left. You don't want to scrape at your nails too much as this can wear away nail enamel. I prefer non-acetone nail polish as it is less drying to my nails, but both acetone and non-acetone can be used.

So there you go! I know it's a bit more work to remove the glitter polish, but it's so pretty that I think it's worth the extra effort. Also, glitter polish does last longer on your nails than non-glitter polish.

How to Remove False Eyelashes

By popular request, I recently posted a tutorial video on YouTube where I show you how you can achieve the makeup look that I have been wearing on YouTube in recent months (The Makeup Look I Wear On YouTube Tutorial). I'm so glad you all liked it so much! In that video I show you how to wear false eyelashes and in this post I want to share with you how best to remove them.

To remove your false eyelashes without risk to pulling out lashes or tugging on your eyelids as you would with repeated use, simply soak a cotton ball will OIL-FREE MAKEUP REMOVER. The one I've been using for years is by Maybelline. Hold the soaked cotton ball to your eyelids for a few seconds. This will soften the glue and your false eyelashes will simply slide off.

The next thing you should do is peel off any remaining glue from your false eyelashes and place them back into the package you bought them in until you're ready to wear them again. The glue peels off the lashes pretty easily as it's rubbery so no great effort is needed.

If you use mascara on your false eyelashes and I don't because I think they are dark and lush enough, but if you do, and you would like to clean off the mascara before you put them away, simply soak another cotton ball with OIL-FREE MAKEUP REMOVER and press it gently onto the lashes. You'll want to place your lashes onto a paper towel for this process because the mascara will become diluted and wash off onto whatever surface you're working on. After you soak them with the cotton ball for a few moments, gently wipe the lashes from base to tip to wipe off the mascara. You can also use a Q-tip and remember to do this gently because you don't want to damage your false eyelashes. You may want to soak another cotton ball and wipe again until they wipe clean and all mascara residue is removed. Once they are clean you can soak your last cotton ball with plain water and gently wipe the makeup remover off. Then let them air dry. Once dry, place them back into the tray they came in and they are ready for your next wear.

To remove any excess glue from your eyelids, simply place a few drops of baby oil, olive oil, jojoba oil, or oil-based makeup remover onto a Q-tip and swab the glue. The oil will loosen the glue and it will come right off. I find that my OIL-FREE MAKEUP REMOVER does a good job getting the glue off as well if you would rather not use oil.

DO NOT GET ANY OIL, OR OIL-BASED MAKEUP REMOVER on your false eyelashes.

One last point, don't worry if you have peeled off your false eyelashes because you didn't know about the soaking method. The glue dries rubbery and flexible and is not hard so and I find that it peels off pretty easily without pulling or tugging. A tip to remember is to always apply your lashes to the edge of your eyelid right at your lashline and not on your lashes, that way you won't pull at your natural lashes when you remove the false ones.

Enjoy wearing false eyelashes, they are so much fun and very glamorous!

Lipstick Colors to Make Your Lips Look Fuller

Many women notice as they age that their lips don't look as full as they used to. This is a natural occurrence with an easy solution: choosing the right lipstick color. Wearing pinks and soft coral shades of lipstick helps your lips appear fuller than wearing darker shades do. Dark shades and deep hues tend to make your lips look thinner, in fact they draw your face down and can draw attention to any lines or wrinkles that you may have. So stick to pastels and finish your lips off with a dab of pearly gloss or frosty pink lipstick in the center of your lips. It helps reflect light and enhance the fullest part of your mouth.

Wash Your Makeup Brushes to Help Prevent Acne

If you take good care of your makeup brush, they will last you a long time. I always recommend natural bristle brushes, both for hair and for makeup. Natural bristles are more pliable and hold powder better. Washing your makeup brushes is very helpful if you suffer from acne breakouts because it helps remove the pimmple causing oils and bacteria that can naturally build up on your brushes from repeated use. That bacteria can remain on your brush and then get spread around your face. For best results always use your makeup brushes on clean dry skin. If any of your pimples are oozing because you just picked, avoid touching it with your makeup brush. As least once a month, you should wash your brushes with a clarifying shampoo. Massaging in between the bristles with the lather. I recommend a clarifying shampoo because it has less moisturizers to remain on your brushes and rinses clean. Rinse them well and shake them out over your sink. Lay them flat on your counter on a towel and let them air dry. If you see you have any bristles that are popping out from the rest, simply trim them off. Once they are dry you are good to go.

Your Most Important Makeup Necessities When You're in a Rush

Don't have time for makeup because you're in a big hurry to get somewhere or pick someone up. We don't always have time to put our makeup on the way we like to when we want to look our best. Sometimes we are so rushed and barely have time for lip gloss, but it's worth taking that extra minute to enhance your appearance with just two simple products: 1) Bronzer, and 2) Lipstick or Lip Gloss with pigment.

Bronzer is one of the most beneficial makeup accessories. Just a quick dusting gives you a healthy sun-kissed glow, makes you look less tired, brings out your hair's natural highlights (or applied highlights)and can make that wait for summer seem bearable. A tip on application: avoid applying the bronzer on your pimples as it will make them darker and more visible; simply avoid brushing over them. Also, if you have facial lines, try to avoid brushing the bronzer into those lines as it will collect in them and enhance the lines. Simply avoid brushing bronzer over them.

The second necessity is Lipstick or Lip Gloss (you choose, but if you choose lip gloss, select one with pigment). Lipstick or lip gloss adds color and definition to your mouth, and makes your smile stand out so you're more apt to be friendlier and smile more often. You will also avoid chapped lips, sun damage, and licking your lips constantly.

Find Your Beauty

Hi Ladies, we can all find something we don't like on ourselves. Well, I have some tips for you on how you can change the way you feel about yourself simply by changing your attitude.

For each thing you don't like about yourself, find something you do like. It could be as simple as pretty lips, dimples, dark eyelashes, big eyes. Now put the emphasis on those parts! So if you don't like your eyes, but you love your lips, play up your lips with bright lipstick, but keep your eyes more neutral. This goes for your body as well.

Now, for the things you don't like. Change them if you can. If you feel you are overweight, exercise and start maintaining a healthy diet. Don't like your hair, visit a salon and find out what your options are for a style that works for you. Don't just feel bad about these things if you are able to do something about them.

For the things you cannot change, simply let them go. You must accept that they are part of who you are. They are the things that make you "you". Anyone who cares about you wouldn't want you to change those things because they are familiar, recognizable and special. That's how you stay positive and happy through life. Very often the things you find unattractive or problematic, like a mole on your face, or perhaps freckles, others see as distinctive and simply make you "you".

So I say, for the things you can and want to change "make it happen" you can absolutely do that. For the things you cannot change, embrace them and move on and focus on what you like about yourself. You will exhibit more confidence and people will be drawn to that inner beauty and peace that comes out of a person who is truly comfortable in their own body. Their smile is genuine and simply lights up a room and makes others feel at ease. Draw yourself out, not in, and you will find the secret to a happy life :o)

Did You Know?

Here are seven helpful health and diet fact tips that you may not know, but should. Did you know that:

1. Hot pepper can help you slim down. Hot peppers contain a compound called capsaicin which is what give the peppers their kick. Capsaicin raises your core body temperature which causes you to burn more calories. The hotter the peppers, the greater the metabolic effect. Try adding them to sauces, curries, and chili.

2. Organic snacks may have more calories than their non-organic equivalent. Many people believe that when they buy an organic snack, like cookies, for example, that they will have less fat and calories than if they buy the same cookie in the non-organic variety. Organic cookies may contain ingredients grown without synthetic pesticides, but in some cases they can have more calories. So be sure to read the label to see the calorie and fat count.

3. One single Broccoli stalk contains more than a day's worth of Vitamin C. So when you eat broccoli, don't forget that the stalks are important for you too. I peel them and steam them right along with my florets.

4. People who graze lose more weight than people who eat the same amount of food and calories, but have it in three meals. Grazing keeps your metabolism raised, your blood sugar steady and helps minimize the storage of excess fat. Remember to keep portions smaller. So instead of three meals a day, eat 6 and help your body use it's own process to naturally lose weight.

5. Olive oil loses its antioxidant properties over time. Don't leave olive oil near the stove, or uncapped for too long because it is sensitive to oxygen, heat and light. If you don't use it often, buy it in small bottles and keep it in a cool dark place.

5. The secret of long lasting nail polish is not in the polish, but in the top coat. Many nail salons order top coats that dry fast and chip more easily. I say, buy your own and bring it with you to the salon, or simply do your nails yourself at home. My favorite top coat is Revlon Top Coat available at most drugstores.

6. Keeping your cuts covered and moist will help them fade faster and may hopefully leave the most minimal trace of a scar depending on the severity of the cut. Many people think you need to keep a cut uncovered to let it heal and breathe. This is not true and cuts actually heal better when covered. Also, a covered cut is protected from bacteria entering the skin.

7. Digging in your purse is the most common way that women damage their cuticles. Please pay close attention to this when you are going into your purse. Damaged cuticles lead to poor nail growth and infections.

I will have more "Did You Know" posts upcoming. Please be sure to subscribe to my blog so you'll be notified whenever I post. Thank you and I'll see you on YouTube,

Makeup Tips - Get That Summer Sun-Kissed Bronze Look

Summer is a terrific time to experiment with makeup and try different looks. Our skin usually has a little base tan and the increased humidity makes for a wonderfully dewy complexion. Looking for something different that anyone can wear? How about trying a bronzed look. This can be done very simply with the right make up colors. Be sure you select the right shades for your skin type. If you have very fair porcelain skin, you won't look natural with a deep copper look. A light glow is more flattering and natural so you'll want to select a more peachy light bronze shade to work with. If you have medium skin, a more tawny or terracotta bronze works best, and for darker skin tones, choose deep bronze and copper shades. For most people, sheer color works best on your face. Make up should be applied sparingly with particular attention to blending, and don't forget your neck!

First, mix a little gold shimmer in with your foundation.

Next, apply a bronzer to the prominent areas of your face that the sun would most likely hit naturally, like your chin, cheekbones, forehead. Helps to keep the look natural. I always prefer bronzing powder to creams and gels. They hold up best. Use a large brush to apply rather than the small ones that come with most bronzers, you will get a much more even and natural application.

Now, dust a little blush on your cheeks. Be sure your blush has a darker pigment than you normally wear.

Next, apply bronze eye shadow to your eyelids from your lash line to your crease.

Next, apply a small amount of shimmery light gold eye shadow under the arch of your eyebrows and to the inside corner of your eyes. This color should be quite a bit lighter that what you are using on your eyelids.

Apply black mascara.

Finish your look off with some beautiful Sheer Bronze Lipstick. For an extra gorgeous effect for your lips, dab a dot of your gold shimmery eyeshadow to the center of your lower lip in your pout spot.

And there you have it!

Quick Makeup Fix for Sensitive Eye Lids

If you find that you have sensitive eyelids that become itchy or flaky after wearing eye shadow, especially shimmery eyeshadow, you are most likely allergic to the mica in the eyeshadow. The mica is what gives the eye shadow the glimmer effect. My suggestion to you is to avoid wearing eye shadow altogether and instead, focus on highlighting under your eyebrows by blending in a pale white concealer under your arch. Next, use a gel-formula eyeliner and smudge it into your lash line. Be sure to read the ingredients to make sure it does not contain mica. If it is shimmer-free, it probably does not. Then finish your look off with a hypoallergenic mascara. There are quite a few brands of mascara to choose from that are hypoallergenic. Two that I know of that are great are Maybelline http://amzn.to/1TarD4p and Almayhttp://amzn.to/1SkLT6j
