Cover Your Gray Hair Instantly! No Messy Dyes!

In my latest video below, I share with you a fantastic product that I recently tried for my son's wedding. I noticed a few gray hairs at a very noticeable spot on the top of my head. Not wanting to commit to dying my hair just for one little grey spot, and also not wanting to take a chance on anything new right before the wedding, I decided to try Everpro Gray Away Temporary Root Concealer. I tell you all about my experience in the video as well as show you the different products so you can decide what's best for you. This is especially helpful information during these stay-at-home times where we have no access to a salon or hairdresser for root touch ups. Please share this video to help others.

Best Beauty Products of 2018

Every year at this time, I share my Best Beauty Products of the Year video on YouTube. It features my top beauty product picks for the year. Each year I have a different mix of goodies to share with you and this year is no different, although I do have less products to share this year than prior years. Unfortunately, quite a few of the products I tried this year, I would not recommend, like the liquid glitter eye shadow that made my eyelids red and puffy. Or several of the waterproof eyeliners that made me feel like I had tape on my eyelids, or even the two eyeshadow palettes I tried based on recommendations from beauty gurus that I found to have no spreadability and not enough pigment. Nevertheless, I have some winners for you! Products I tried and loved and will be continuing to use into the new year and beyond. Please watch my video below and share it to help others discover new and wonderful products. If you missed any of my prior years' best beauty products videos, please go to my channel (link is over to the right of my blog) and watch those videos too. I share so many great products that I don't want you to miss out on!

Is Your Ionic Hair Dryer Causing Your Hair to Be Flat, Dry, and Limp

I was recently in the market for a second blow dryer and doing a bit of research on what to buy. I noticed that nearly every hair dryer or heat styling tool on the market today boasted using negative ions technology. Their claim is that ionic infusion technology will shorten drying time, add shine, and eliminate frizz and static. As someone who is always interested in the science behind such claims, I wanted to know if this really worked or is it just marketing, and are negative ions good for my hair. I have long hair and had been experiencing some issues with dryness and lack of volume, so I did my own research into this ionic technology and then I did a little experiment comparing an ionic hair dryer with a non-ionic hair dryer. To find out what I learned and the results of my comparison, watch my YouTube video: Is Your Hair Dry, Flat, Thin, Or Limp? It Could Be Your Ionic Hair Dryer!

What's the Perfect Hair Color as You Age

A good rule of thumb to keep in mind is: stick to warm tones as you get older.  They are the most flattering to most skin types.  Warm does not mean brassy or orangey though. There's a big difference between orangey and warm carmel or honey tones.  If you're over 35, you may want to stay away from extreme colors like platinum or jet black, which can make you look pale or tired.  The effect is too harsh and aging.  Also, cool shades like ash or champagne blonde can make you look washed out.  So stick to warm caramels and honeys and you will bring depth and warmth to your skin and a more youthful appearance.

How to Make Your Hair Color Last Longer - Tips for Pool, Sun, and Surf

Hi YouTips4U, what can I do to make my hair color last longer. It's so expensive to keep up and I feel it fades too quickly for me.

YouTips4U Ans. I know how frustrating that can be with certain hair colors. What you want to do is avoid prolonged sun exposure as that is the number one culprit of fading hair color. If you must be in the sun for an extended period of time, be sure you wear a hat and spray your hair with a UV block conditioner mixed with a little water. Also, you want to limit your hair's exposure to chlorinated pool water, this is another culprit in fading hair color. If you are a swimmer and being exposed to chlorinated pool water is a frequent occurrence, be very diligent about protecting your hair before you dive in. I recommend that you first wet your hair down with regular tap water and then apply either a hair oil like jojoba oil or olive oil, or use a conditioner. By wetting your hair down with regular tap water, you prevent your hair from absorbing the chlorine water because it has already absorbed the fresh water. Coating it with olive or jojoba oil will help block out the chlorinated water because oil repels water. It's also a wonderful way to condition your hair while you exercise. Lastly and also of great importance is "wear a swim cap" also called a bathing cap. Simply twist your hair into a bun and stuff it all under the cap. This will protect your hair from freely flowing through all the chlorinated water. When you come out of the pool rinse your hair well, shampoo and condition as usual.

Finally, to protect your hair color from fading, you want to use a shampoo for color-treated hair. These shampoos are specially formulated and gentle and will have the right combination of ingredients to make your color last. I highly recommend them. Please do avoid overwashing your hair; shampooing two to three times a week is sufficient. The more you shampoo, the more you can fade you color.

Condition Your Hair While You Sleep!

A great time to deep condition your hair is while you are sleeping. I highly recommend you give it a try at least once a month. Before you go to bed pour a small amount of olive oil into the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together a bit to distribute the oil and smooth it onto your dry hair. After you have applied the oil, I recommend that you loosely braid your hair to keep it from getting everywhere while you are sleeping. Don't worry if it gets onto your face while you're asleep; it's great for your skin too! Remember to apply the olive oil to your long hair only, not your scalp hair. Since our scalps do produce enough oil for that area, it's really the long hair that you can gather into a ponytail that often needs additional conditioning. If you have very dry hair and would like to place a small glazing on the surface of your scalp hair, that's fine.

If you are concerned about getting it on your pillow or bedding, place a soft towel over your pillow to protect it, or, you can do the following:

1. Using an old rag (I like to use old cotton t-shirts), rip off a long strip of it.

2. Next, wrap the strip of fabric around your braid starting at the base of your head and wrapping on down to the bottom. Secure the bottom by cutting the end into two, twisting in opposite directions and tying it in a bow.

The above method will cover the oil treated hair while you sleep and prevent any of the oil from touching your bed linens. If you want to skip the braid, you can just gather your hair like you are going to make a ponytail and twist the rag around your hair and secure. I prefer to braid first, but it's up to you.

When you wake up in the morning, shampoo and condition your hair as you normally would. Then just style as usual. You will be amazed at how beautifully conditioned you hair will look and feel. It will be soft, shiny and full of life. It's wonderfully rejuvenating for your hair. If you have dry or damaged hair this will really help to repair it.

Enjoy!

Tip on How You Can Give Your Conditioner a Wonderful and Natural Boost to Enhance Your Hair!

Hi Everybody, looking to give your hair a special little conditioning boost? I have a great tip for you. Next time you shampoo your hair try this tip when you apply your conditioner.

1) Squeeze out all water in your hair after you have rinsed out the shampoo.

2) Next, apply your conditioner of choice. Please remember to place conditioner on your hair from the base of the back of your head down; not your scalp hair.

3) Next, pour a small nickle size amount of olive oil into your wet hands and rub them together to distribute the oil in your hands.

4) Gently smooth the olive oil onto your long hair (remember you are placing the olive oil over your conditioner that's already on your hair).

5) Wait about 2 minutes and rinse with warm water as you usually do. Just before you turn off the water, rinse your hair with cold water to close the cuticle and give your hair great shine.

6) Comb and style as usual.

You will love the amazing results. Your hair will be soft and shiny and retain a lot of moisture. This is great for those of you with dry, damaged, or color-treated hair, or anyone who what's soft shiny conditioned hair.

See you soon on YouTube :o)

My Natural Boar Bristle Brush Smells?

Hi, I just bought a new boar bristle brush that has a wooden handle. It has this horrible kind of nauseating smell that i assume is coming from the glue that bonds the bristles in place. Is there any way of removing this smell without harming the bristles? I've tried washing it with baby shampoo but the smell still remains.. Let me know if you know anything that could do the trick! thanks!

YouTips4U: Excellent, congratulations - you did a great thing. Don't be alarmed by the smell, they do have an odor when they're brand new. It has been compared to a wet dog. Give it time, the odor will fade in a few days. You can speed up the process by washing it with shampoo and rinsing it as you have been doing, but I don't recommend doing this because it wears down the brush and wood. If you do decide you must wash it because it's really bothering you, use a gentle shampoo and water to lather; no conditioner, and rinse well. Do not soak it in water when cleaning it. Shake it out really well when you're done and let it air dry on a dry surface. Your brush will last for years and years if you take good care of it. For normal use purposes your brush should be shampooed about once a month and the loose hairs should be removed daily with a comb.

Should You Rotate Shampoos?

Many people write me and ask whether there is any benefit to using more than one shampoo, or whether this is just a ploy for companies to sell more product. The truth is it is beneficial to rotate shampoos periodically. Believe it or not hair does get used to the same chemical composition and does not respond as well as time goes on to the same shampoo. It is best to periodically switch to a different shampoo, whether you rotate once per week or two, or every other shampooing, your hair can benefit. This is especially true for people who have color-treated or permed hair and use products made for those hair types. Very often these products have a lot of moisturizers and can ultimately cause a residue build up. I always recommend using a rinse, like Apple Cider Vinegar, to remove the build up every few weeks, or whenever you feel you need it. You can also use clarifying shampoos that contain Apple Cider Vinegar to remove product and oil build up. If you do choose one of these shampoos, be careful not to overuse them as they can be drying to your hair. They are really only meant for occasional use.

I recently tried a wonderful shampoo, as I do practice rotation of my shampoo products. The name of the Shampoo is Nature's Gate Chamomile Replenishing Shampoo. It's great for highlighted hair (chamomile naturally enhances blond highlights) and contains many natural herbs and botanicals. What I found wonderful about this shampoo is that my hair stayed clean for a very long time as it gently removed all my product buildup and left it incredibly shiny, but not dried out. As you know, when you have long hair like I do, you have to be very careful not dry it out or you will cause breakage.

I am sure you are wondering about whether you should alternate conditioners as well. The answer is no, but it's fine to if you want to. If you have a conditioner that you like that both detangles your hair and conditions it well, then stick with it. Remember to pay attention to you hair type. If you have fine limp hair, be careful not to weigh it down with heavy conditioners and only apply conditioner on the hair away from the scalp and scalp hair or you will cause you hair to lie flat and heavy. I will have more on this and other great hair videos upcoming on YouTube if you are interested in learning more about hair. Tip For Fabulous Looking Hair And To Help Grow Long Hair

Hi Everybody, hope you're having a wonderful day today. I am having a great day and so is my hair. Don't you just love those days where everything just seems to go right and you feel energized and look great. Well, I'm having one of those days and I wanted to share a little tip with you on why my hair feels and looks so fabulous today.

Last night before bed, I massaged my scalp with Jojoba Oil by Desert Essence. I did it for about 5-8 minutes. Gently massaging the oil into all areas of my scalp. It felt wonderful. Then I coated my hair from the base of my head down with a thin coating of olive oil (not too much because you don't want to saturate your pillow). Then I braided my hair to keep it from touching my face while I'm asleep.

When I got up this morning, I washed my hair using my upside down technique that you know I advocate (please see my video on this on YouTube for the how to do it.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xwnlC12W8vk

I can't tell you how wonderful my hair looks and feels today. Full of body and shine and smooth with no visible breakage. I just love it and wanted to share it with you. I hope I have inspired you to go home tonight and do this before bed. You will be amazed at how wonderful your hair looks and feels in the morning. Massaging your scalp increases blood flow to your hair follicles and coupled with jojoba oil promotes hair growth, and it feels wonderful and relaxing. Try getting your significant other to do this for you; it's a great way to be close.

If you give it a try, please stop by and let me know how you liked it. Enjoy the rest of your day!!

Keep Smiling,
YouTips4U

What Can I Use To Help Me Grow My Hair Long?

Hey!!
I am currently trying to grow my hair and I was just wondering if you know of any hair products or anything that I can use in my hair to stimulate growth.

Thanks a lot,

YouTips4U: Hi, you can try massaging your scalp with jojoba oil. Jojoba oil has been praised for centuries as a possible hair growth stimulant, and massaging your scalp helps bring blood flow to your follicles which will help stimulate hair growth. Please check out my video on jojoba oil on YouTube if you want to learn more about the benefits of this wonderful oil and some other uses for it.

Properly Shampoo and Condition Your Hair

Is it okay to use a shampoo and conditioner in the same hand, putting it on at the same time like a 2 in 1 with cold water becauses i like it and it's usually 103 degrees in Arizona and i live there.

YouTips4U: I always prefer using the shampoo first to clean your hair and then using a conditioner to condition it. I think it's best because you diminish the ability of the shampoo to clean and the conditioner to condition when you mix them. Also, it's not always preferable to condition your whole head. Conditioner is best apply to your hair from the ears down to avoid build up on your scalp. It's best shampoo with warm water because it distributes and lathers better that with cold water. It's also beneficial to rinse your conditioner off with warm water because it leaves hair softer and untangles it. You can finish with a cold water rinse to close the cuticle when you're done.

Coconut Oil as a Hair Conditioner and Protectant

Question: Hi! I don't know if you talked about this in your videos, but I'd like to know if there is anything good to put on my hair before/after I straighten it? Because I straighten it almost every day, and I don't want to damage it very badly.

YouTips4U: Hi, I do recommend you use a heat protection spray or similar product before your straighten your hair to protect it. A small amount of coconut oil works very well to protect hair from intense heat. Please check out my YouTube Video on Coconut Oil as a conditioner. It's wonderful for hair, skin, and diet.
