Make Your Own Homemade Electrolyte Drink

EASY HOMEMADE ELECTROLYTE  DRINK RECIPE
(You can tailor it too!)

Feeling sluggish, low energy, or tired out. It may be because you need electrolytes!

Electrolytes are essential minerals that carry a positive or negative charge and are found in your blood, sweat, and urine. Electrolytes are composed of dissolved minerals. When essential minerals such as sodium, potassium, chloride, calcium, magnesium, phosphate, and bicarbonate dissolve in fluid they are called electrolytes. Electrolytes are used in your body's metabolic processes and are crucial to keeping your nervous system and muscles functioning properly and your internal environment balanced. Electrolytes, particularly sodium, help maintain fluid balance through osmosis which is the process by which water moves through your cells. If you are on a low sodium diet, a low carb diet, the keto diet, or you are sick with vomiting or diarrhea, then you may be susceptible to not getting enough sodium and/or having an electrolyte imbalance or deficiency. Also, if you exercise a lot or work physical labor, you will want to replace the sodium you lose through sweating. Having the right balance of electrolytes is crucial in maintaining your blood ph.

During the summer month it is especially important to be properly hydrated as the hotter temperatures cause the body to lose excess fluids in the form of sweat as your body works to keep you cool. People who exercise outdoors in the heat and people who do physical labor must pay particular attention to their hydration levels. Sometimes it's not enough to just drink plain water, but it's necessary to replace lost electrolytes as well. Unfortunately, many of the electrolyte drinks sold today are loaded with excess sugar and chemicals.  That's why I like to make my own homemade electrolyte drink for myself and my family. It's quick and easy and you can make it in advance so you have it on hand when you need it. Nothing helps you feel better faster on a hot day or after a workout than to replenish your electrolytes with this homemade electrolyte drink.

My recipe is simple. You will need the following:

Glass quart Jar or Container

Juice of One Fresh Lemon

1/4 tsp salt (iodized salt, himalayan salt, or sea salt)

*Fruit juice of your choice (optional and added to sweeten, see Note below)

Directions:  Fill a glass quart container with water. Add 1/4 tsp of salt and the juice of one fresh squeezed lemon (you can add more lemon if you like it more lemony). Stir to mix well and dissolve salt. Enjoy a cup when you need it.

Note: If you would like to add a little sweetness to your electrolyte drink, which I like to do because it gives me a little boost of energy, you can add a splash of cranberry juice or other natural low-in-sugar fruit juice of your choice. You can either add it to your quart of electrolyte drink or you can just add it to your cup as needed. Trader Joes, R.W. Knudsen, Lakewood, are among the brands that sell natural juices without added sugars or chemicals.

You will be amazed at how good you will feel when you hydrate properly.

Have You Ever Wondered How Butter Is Made?

It's simpler than you think to make your own delicious homemade butter with this quick and easy recipe. Your family will be so impressed! You can control the salt and the quality of the cream you buy!

Ingredients:

Hand mixer, stand mixer, or food processor

1 cup of heavy cream

Cold water

Salt

Pour cream into a bowl and beat with a mixer (hand mixer, stand mixer, or food processor) on medium for a minute then switch to high speed. Mix until a lump is formed and you see the buttermilk separated from the lump, about 5 minutes.

Once the lump separates, pour in your ice cold water to help the buttermilk separate fully from the butter. Then pour the contents of the entire bowl into a strainer over a new bowl to catch the lumps. The liquid that falls into the bowl is delicious buttermilk and can be stored for cooking or marinading in the fridge.

Pick up the lumps of butter and hold it in your hands. Knead it and squeeze it with your hands to remove any remaining buttermilk as you rinse it two or more times with cold water. You want to make sure all buttermilk is removed or your butter will be wet.

Add salt to taste.

Spread your delicious homemade treat on some fresh muffins or bread😋

Store your butter in refrigerator. Keeps 6 weeks in refrigerator.

Zoodles - For Healthy Eating And The Keto Diet Plan

In my latest video I share one of my favorite homemade recipes for zucchini noodles, also affectionately called zoodles. In this recipe I make them italian style with a delicious sauce that contains garlic and olive oil, tomato sauce and healthy spices. You won't believe how delicious it is! Feel free to customize my recipe to your taste as well. Zucchini squash is a favorite food of the ketogenic (keto) diet plan which is a low carbohydrate, low sugar diet, and very popular for the treatment of many health problems.  Zucchini is rated a Keto "A" food with only 3g of net carbs per cup. Compare zoodles at 3g per cup to traditional spaghetti at 41g per cup and you can see that zoodles are much lower in carbs, and the great thing is that you get the satisfying experience of eating traditional pasta because zucchini noodles have an amazing texture and taste. They are super healthy and a fun and easy way to add more vegetables to your diet. In my video below, I show you step by step how to make zoodles using a vegetable spiralizer, which I totally recommend you buy. I also show you how to prepare my very healthy recipe.  I think you will love it! I just might make a vegetable lover out of you if you are not one yet. My family loves zucchini pasta! They can't get enough of it and I make a dish with it almost every week.  I hope you'll give it try. Please remember to share my video with others so they can make this fantastic dish as well!

Why You Should Choose Cologuard Colorectal Cancer Screening Test

Learn about my experience with Cologuard Colorectal Cancer Screening test in my latest YouTube video below. I did some extensive research into the available recommended screening methods for detecting colon cancer after my doctor recommended I get a colonoscopy to screen for colon cancer. As many of you may know, if you are age 50 and over or age 45 and over and African American, your doctor will recommend that you be screened for colon cancer, and they almost always recommend you get a colonoscopy. However, based I my research, I learned that a colonoscopy is a highly invasive test that carries significant risks to your health, and many people feel uncomfortable having such an invasive test as a screening test. Unfortunately, because of that, many people simply don't get screened. Learn about colonoscopy and its risks and side effects in my video entitled:  Colonoscopy: What You Need To Know, Risks and Side Effects. You should know that if you don't feel uncomfortable having a colonoscopy, you have other effective alternatives to choose from and one of them is Cologuard. Cologuard is the latest FDA approved technology available in noninvasive screening tests. It's an at-home DNA stool test that you can do right in the privacy of your own home that screens your entire colon and rectum for colon cancer and precancerous polyps. Based on my research, which I share in my video below, I decided it was the best choice for me, and it may be for you too. It's very easy to use, highly accurate, and uses the latest in DNA technology to screen your stool for colon cancer and precancerous growths. Learn all about it, why I chose it, and my experience with it in my video below. You can learn more about the colon, colon cancer and all the available screening choices by watching my in-depth, comprehensive video entitled: Colon Cancer Screening: What You Need To Know About Colon Health, Colonoscopy, Cologuard | My Experience and Choice. I hope you find my below video on Cologuard helpful in your decision-making process of choosing the right colon cancer screening test for you. Please share this video with others to help spread awareness.

March Is Colon Cancer Awareness Month

In honor of colon cancer awareness month, I created an in-depth comprehensive YouTube video to help spread awareness about the importance of taking care of your colon and getting screened for colon cancer. My video is based on my own personal experience as well as extensive research I did into the subject of colon health, polyps, colon cancer, prevention, and getting screened. It's a video that everyone should watch, not just those in the over 45 years of age group who are being recommended to get screened for colon cancer, because colon cancer is now on the rise in young adults. Having knowledge about this area of the human body is critically important if you want to have a healthy life. I hope you will watch this entire video and share it with others to help spread awareness, because if colon cancer is caught early, the five-year survival rate is 90%. Learn what you need to know to help prevent colon cancer.
