Is Your Ionic Hair Dryer Causing Your Hair to Be Flat, Dry, and Limp

I was recently in the market for a second blow dryer and doing a bit of research on what to buy. I noticed that nearly every hair dryer or heat styling tool on the market today boasted using negative ions technology. Their claim is that ionic infusion technology will shorten drying time, add shine, and eliminate frizz and static. As someone who is always interested in the science behind such claims, I wanted to know if this really worked or is it just marketing, and are negative ions good for my hair. I have long hair and had been experiencing some issues with dryness and lack of volume, so I did my own research into this ionic technology and then I did a little experiment comparing an ionic hair dryer with a non-ionic hair dryer. To find out what I learned and the results of my comparison, watch my YouTube video: Is Your Hair Dry, Flat, Thin, Or Limp? It Could Be Your Ionic Hair Dryer!
I think you will find it very helpful!

How Hot Should I Use My Flat Iron/Hair Straightener

Hi Everybody, I have some advice for those of you who use a flat iron to straighten your hair. I get so many letters from viewers who have damaged their hair with a flat iron that I want to share some suggestions on how you can prevent this. Many people think that when selecting the temperature setting, the hotter the better when straightening their hair. This is not so. You really want to use the lowest heat setting you can to accomplish your style. You may need to trial and error this to see what heat setting works for you. For those of you who have kinky hair or coarse thick hair, you may benefit from a bit higher heat setting, but please avoid the top settings. If your flat iron has a temperature gauge, keep it around 250 degrees F to 300 degrees F. Remember not to leave it on your hair but to quickly run it through your hair. Each time you clamp your hair with a flat iron you are removing moisture from the hair shaft. Do as little of your hair as possible to achieve the look you want. Many times this means only doing the hair that frames your face or the outermost layer on top. Remember to use a conditioner after you shampoo and to use a heat protectant before you flat iron. You want to preserve the health of your hair because once it's damaged, it can take a long time to grow it out.

Straighten Hair with a Flat Iron

Question: I have a question about straightening? I straight my hair twice a week, and 2 times i put coconut oil on my hair, and i use tresseme heat tamer spray before i straight! So is it okay to straight two times a week? If i continue to do this for i donno maybe 20 years.. do you think i am doing a big mistake? please help me out. thanks

YouTips4U: Hi, I'm doing great, thank you! It sounds like you are taking good care of your hair with conditioners. You should be fine straightening your hair twice a week, but be sure to keep the straightener on the lowest setting you need to get the job done and try not to go over the same piece of hair more than three times. You want to guard against frying it. If you can get away with straightening only certain outer sections to achieve your desired style, that would be better for your hair. Straightening irons can be very damaging. I get a lot of mail from people who have really damaged their hair, and are so sorry after that they used the straightening iron so frequently. Just be careful and only use it when necessary. If you are just hanging at home and don't need your hair picture perfect, just keep it natural to give your hair a rest. If you start to notice it looking dry and damaged, then I would stop using it. Everyone's hair is different. One person can tolerate a straighten iron every day on their hair, while someone else gets damage from using it infrequently.
