Deodorant Recommendation!

I am always in search of deodorants without aluminum to recommend to you that work great. I just tried Degree Natural Effects Deodorant Solid in Honeysuckle and tea tree oil. It's wonderful and I highly recommend it. It's a clear solid and goes on smooth and smells wonderful. It did not irritate me, and I still smelled lovely after a two-hour workout! It's a keeper, and I think you'll love it too. I have been searching for a deodorant (not anti-antiperspirant deodorant)that's made by a name-brand company with a nice fresh smell. This is the first I've come across, and it's terrific. I have noticed that in the past, companies made deodorant-only products for men, but not women. I think they finally listened to our request for an aluminum-free, non-antiperspirant deodorant. I personally have called quite a few of the antiperspirant manufacturers to request this, so kudos to Unilever for listening. If you would like more information on Natural Deodorants or you would like to learn more about what antiperspirants that contain aluminum do to your body and why I don't recommend using them, please click here to go to my video on YouTube: Healthier Underarm Deodorants For Preventing Armpit Odor - Risks of Aluminum Antiperpirants To Body

Condition Your Hair While You Sleep!

A great time to deep condition your hair is while you are sleeping. I highly recommend you give it a try at least once a month. Before you go to bed pour a small amount of olive oil into the palm of your hand. Rub your hands together a bit to distribute the oil and smooth it onto your dry hair. After you have applied the oil, I recommend that you loosely braid your hair to keep it from getting everywhere while you are sleeping. Don't worry if it gets onto your face while you're asleep; it's great for your skin too! Remember to apply the olive oil to your long hair only, not your scalp hair. Since our scalps do produce enough oil for that area, it's really the long hair that you can gather into a ponytail that often needs additional conditioning. If you have very dry hair and would like to place a small glazing on the surface of your scalp hair, that's fine.

If you are concerned about getting it on your pillow or bedding, place a soft towel over your pillow to protect it, or, you can do the following:

1. Using an old rag (I like to use old cotton t-shirts), rip off a long strip of it.

2. Next, wrap the strip of fabric around your braid starting at the base of your head and wrapping on down to the bottom. Secure the bottom by cutting the end into two, twisting in opposite directions and tying it in a bow.

The above method will cover the oil treated hair while you sleep and prevent any of the oil from touching your bed linens. If you want to skip the braid, you can just gather your hair like you are going to make a ponytail and twist the rag around your hair and secure. I prefer to braid first, but it's up to you.

When you wake up in the morning, shampoo and condition your hair as you normally would. Then just style as usual. You will be amazed at how beautifully conditioned you hair will look and feel. It will be soft, shiny and full of life. It's wonderfully rejuvenating for your hair. If you have dry or damaged hair this will really help to repair it.

Enjoy!

Tip on How You Can Give Your Conditioner a Wonderful and Natural Boost to Enhance Your Hair!

Hi Everybody, looking to give your hair a special little conditioning boost? I have a great tip for you. Next time you shampoo your hair try this tip when you apply your conditioner.

1) Squeeze out all water in your hair after you have rinsed out the shampoo.

2) Next, apply your conditioner of choice. Please remember to place conditioner on your hair from the base of the back of your head down; not your scalp hair.

3) Next, pour a small nickle size amount of olive oil into your wet hands and rub them together to distribute the oil in your hands.

4) Gently smooth the olive oil onto your long hair (remember you are placing the olive oil over your conditioner that's already on your hair).

5) Wait about 2 minutes and rinse with warm water as you usually do. Just before you turn off the water, rinse your hair with cold water to close the cuticle and give your hair great shine.

6) Comb and style as usual.

You will love the amazing results. Your hair will be soft and shiny and retain a lot of moisture. This is great for those of you with dry, damaged, or color-treated hair, or anyone who what's soft shiny conditioned hair.

See you soon on YouTube :o)

Help for Armpit/Underarm Odor

Many or you have written because despite your faithful use of your deodorant, you are still noticing an odor. I have some very helpful tips for you to help beat underarm odor caused by summer heat and humidity which can really turn on our sweat glands. There are things you can do to help eliminate your underarm odor problem:

1) Shower daily and use antibacterial soap or 100% glycerin soap in your underarm area. Very often soaps we use on our bodies have too many moisturizers, etc. and they just don't clean the bacteria under our armpits away properly.

2. After you shower and you're completely dry, apply your deodorant. I always recommend using deodorant rather than anti-persperant because anti-perspirants block your sweat glads. Please see my video on YouTube on using natural deodorants and powders as a great substitute. Here is the link: Healthier Deodorant Choices For Preventing Armpit Odor Risks of Aluminum Antiperpirants To Body If you shower before bed, you should still apply your deodorant to help prevent the growth of bacteria till morning and then reapply your deodorant.

3.  In between showers, you can freshen up by wiping your underarm area with Witch Hazel Astringent: http://amzn.to/1Tat9mV. Just put a little on a cotton ball and clean your underarms with it. Use a separate cotton ball for each armpit.  Please see my video on the many wonderful uses for Witch Hazel: 16 Beauty Hacks - One Amazing Natural Product

3. Shave your armpits regularly. As soon as you even see a little stubble, shave it because the bacteria thrive in the hair and cause odor to form.

4. Avoid wearing tight shirts. You want to wear looser fitting tops because you will get better air flow and it will help to keep you drier and smelling better. Also, wear natural fibers whenever possible, like cotton because they breathe and won't lock in wetness and odor.

5. You may have to keep some powder with you to apply to your armpits throughout the day to help prevent odor even if you are wearing deodorant. I recommend Vagisil Powder. It's terrific because it prevents and eliminates odor, it smells lovely, and it's gentle and talc free.

Can You Explain What BMI Is?

Hi, I was wondering what BMI is and whether it's important?

YouTips4U Ans.: Hi, BMI stands for Body Mass Index. It's a way to determine whether your weight is appropriate for your height (see formula below). You can use it to determine if you are overweight and to access your risk of developing diseases that are associated with being overweight. Regardless of what your BMI is, if you're a woman and your waist is larger than 35 inches (larger than 40 if you are a man), you are at increased risk for heart disease, diabetes, cancer, and other health problems. It would be a good idea for you to consider a diet and exercise plan, but remember to choose one that you can live with long term; that you can make a new way of life.

Here's how to calculate your BMI: BMI = weight(in pounds) divided by height (in inches) squared and multiplied by 705.

Example: A 5'5" (65") woman weighing 150 pounds would have the following BMI:

150 divided by 65 squared (65 x 65=4225)= .035502958, multiplied by 705= 25

A BMI of 25-29 usually indicates a person is overweight. This person is at the very beginning of the range where her risk for health problems begins. A BMI of 30 or more usually indicates a person is obese. The most desirable BMI is 19-24.

Please remember that this is just an estimate and that sometimes very muscular people can have a high BMI without having health risks. Use this in conjunction for evaluating your body, how much excess fat your have, how much exercise you do and what your diet is like.

Are You Drinking Enough Water?

Hi YouTips4U: I just want to let you know that I love all your videos on YouTube. They have helped me so much. My question is: I am trying to make sure my skin is at its best, so I have started to drink more water. How do I know if I am drinking enough?

YouTips4u Ans.: Hi, that's a really good question. Being hydrated is so important, especially for good skin. It also aids the body by helping it digest more efficiently and it helps remove bacteria from the body. A good rule of thumb to know if you are drinking enough is to check your urine. If your urine is dark, or the odor strong, this may be an indication that your body doesn't have enough water and is conserving it. Remember you also get water when you eat fruits and vegetables which are 75%-95% water. If your urine is clear or very pale yellow, you're doing a good job of staying hydrated. However, if you are going to the bathroom more than once an hour, you're probably drinking more than your body can handle. Once your body is hydrated, no more moisture will get to the skin via internal means and the rest will just be excreted by your kidneys. Each person is different, so see what you body's needs are. A lot depends on your size, how much you exercise, whether you eat a lot of fiber (fiber soaks up water so your requirement may be a bit higher). So don't worry about the old recommendation of drinking 8 glasses of water a day as the rule; it's no longer thought to be because you get fluids from foods as well. Hope that helps!

Do the Low-Carbohydrate Diets Work?

I really do not recommend low-carbohydrate diets. They are usually lacking in complex carbs, vitamins, and minerals, and people on these diets end up feeling very tired. This can be very counterproductive as you need the energy to exercise which is extremely important when you are trying to lose weight.

Complex carbohydrates are whole-grain foods such as whole-grain bread, oatmeal, brown rice, potatoes, oat bran, and pasta. Unlike candy, soda, and cookies, which result in a quick rush of blood sugar and then the ultimate crash, complex carbs provide a slow release of insulin in the blood which stabilizes your blood sugar and provides a good source of healthy stable energy.

When you lose weight from low-carb diets, much of it is from water loss. These diets are difficult to sustain for long periods of time and most people cannot maintain eating this way, so they end up gaining all the weight back again. I eat a lot of complex carbs. I have some with every meal. I also exercise a lot so I need the energy and without complex carbs, I don't think I could maintain the level of fitness that I am used to.
