In my Stop Split Ends and Grow Your Hair Longer video on YouTube http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=1dqvh0wVgIw&feature=channel_page
I show you how you can grow your hair longer simply by stretching the time between salon trims using a simple technique of trimming off your split ends with a small scissor. Growing your hair long takes commitment as does anything worth achieving in life; that's why it is so desirable. There really is no magic potion to having long hair. You must take care of your body by providing it with good nutrition through a balanced diet, exercise, and enough rest in order for your cells to repair and regenerate so that you can obtain the maximum growth potential of your hair each month. Hair is nourished from the inside. A diet rich in protein and B vitamins is extremely beneficial and a daily multivitamin is added insurance. Please remember that growing long, healthy, strong hair takes time, patience, and care. It's important to use the right shampoo for your hair type (i.e. oily, normal, dry, color-treated, etc.) and a very good conditioner to help retain moisture and repair split ends. You don't have to spend a lot of money on salon products. You can find one that you like in your favorite drugstore. You should always use a leave-in conditioner before styling after you have shampooed and conditioned your hair.
Hair grows approximately 1/2 per month. If you decide to commit to growing your hair, start fresh with a good trim to remove dead dry ends and then take special care from that point on not to create anymore damage, dryness, or split ends. Try to stretch the time between trims as I have spoken about in the above video by trimming them with a small scissor periodically. When you do go for a trim, be sure to communicate to your hairdresser that you are committed to growing your hair long and that she please use special care to trim only a dusting to 1/2 to remove unwanted ends that way you can hold on to your precious new growth. You do the math on how much to remove based on how many months of growth you've had. Be sure not to take off as much as or more that you grew; but be sure to remove less. Only trim when necessary. I like to wait at least 3 months between trims and then remove 1/4 inch.
It is a journey worth taking so please don't give up. Allow yourself at least 2 years of patience, determination, and commitment and you will be rewarded with beautiful long hair.
